Welcome

Thank you for taking the first step in your journey of personal growth- reaching out for help. We know how hard this step can be. It is quite normal to feel nervous about meeting with a therapist or counselor for the first time. Before you make an appointment, we encourage you to give us a call at 239-297-7099, so that we may answer any questions you might have about the process and determine if we are the right professionals to help you. When we don't believe we can, we do our best to connect you with the appropriate care and resources you need.

Here at Florida Art Therapy Services, our approach to treatment might be a little bit different than the psychotherapy to which you have been exposed. Of course we will be talking, but we really encourage and support our clients in artistic and play-based exploration within the therapy sessions. Then, when developmentally appropriate, we talk about, or process these experiences together. Although it may seem like fun and games, there is always a therapeutic purpose to our play and art-making. The emphasis of the art-making is on the process of doing and learning, not on creating a masterpiece. You don't need any artistic experience to benefit from this type of therapy. People are often surprised at the insights that emerge and the awareness they are able to cultivate within the creative process. We have been asked, is this type of therapy for adults or children? This type of therapy can be tailored to work with and benefit anyone; however, we also recognize that not everyone feels comfortable making art. When this happens, and it does, we are all also trained in traditional verbal approaches. Let our team of therapists help guide and support you in your path towards hope, healing, and wellness. Take the next step by calling us at 239-297-7099 or sending us a message

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way - things I had no words for.
